Roberts constructed this large pump station, along with a combined ESB/VFD building, and an electrical substation. There were over 100,000 labor hours worked on this project. Roberts performed the mechanical work in house, while managing subcontractors for the civil, structural and electrical portion of the work.
Roberts was able to complete this work despite poor soil conditions and having to drive 125-100’ pilings to reach glacial till. In addition to tough soil conditions, St. Clair featured a very small workspace. This forced Roberts to manage a number of crews to complete different tasks simultaneously and in tight quarters. Effective and efficient management of labor and equipment allowed Roberts to complete the project successfully.
